Eos really didn't want to be back here. These bloodthirsty soldiers of ancient geese never liked any of the other ruling planets. They had only made one peace treaty in the history of their planet, and that was with the Amaswans. Now those guys were mean.
Eos remembered the day she first came here years ago on a diplomatic mission, hoping for a peace treaty between Starlin and the emperor. She knew his right-hand man from some old meetings, used to think he was quite funny, he looked rather interesting in the sense that he wasn't from Ancient Geese. Abandoned on the planet, the emperor took him in as his ward. He himself didn't know where this winged boy was from.
She was not looking forward to seeing him again.
The spaceship came down smoothly, landing in an open field. The engine sputtered, then conked out.
Eos kicked the control panel, then said some words she would have gotten her mouth washed out for back at home as she kicked it with her bad leg.
"WHOA! Geez! Don't do that, idiot!" Lonely gasped and immediately ran to her side to make sure she didn't fall.
"Don't touch me!" She snapped and stumbled back. She was stressed and didn't need him, making it worse.
"You can't stand on your own, E." He handed her the crutch that had fallen on the floor, "It's clear that you’re stressed. I'll give you space if that's what you need, but we're supposed to do this together, okay? So I'm not going far.".
Eos let out a heavy breath and nodded, silently telling her brain to calm down. They exited the back of the ship and were immediately surrounded by geese warriors. Hissing and honking, they tightened the circle.
"They're actually geese..." Lonely gaped, staring wide-eyed at their opponents with their spears drawn.
Someone pushed through the crowd, looking human-like, but dark wings spread wide. Purple eyes piercing through Eos's soul.
"Hello again, princess. It's been a while. Still playing knights?"
Lonely scowled at him, and Eos was pretty sure she had the same expression.
"Eros, still following under daddy's orders?" She tried to keep her cool, "Remember what happened, it was his fault. Move past it, get the passkey, get outta there." Eos thought.
"I'm supposed to bring you to the emperor, but I could just kill you now." The winged boy snapped, his blue hair fellow over his scarred eye.
Lonely stepped in front of Eos, "Look, we're probably already going to die at the end of this mission, we're here for one thing only, and that's a passkey to defeat Foe. We don't need sickos like you making our quest worse. I figure you and Eos have some sort of past, and you can figure all that out when we're done. Okay? Now, if you could please take us to the emperor, I'd be grateful."
There was silence before the geese warriors, and Eros broke into fits of laughter and honking.
"Where'd you find him, Princess? He's a riot!" Eros gasped through fits of laughter. Lonely walked over to him, and before Eos could stop him, Lonely punched him in the gut and grabbed Eros's ear.
"The longer you make us wait, the more people die. Take. Us. Now." He whispered violently in the winged boy's ear. A dark look passed over Lonely's face; he looked ready to punch Eros again. Eos saw him differently for a second, a human who looked wimpy stood up for her. Lonely had gained some respect from Eos in that second.
"Fine." He spat, grabbing Lonely's shirt collar and throwing him to the soldiers who grabbed his arms and pinned them to his back, "The emperor will only want to speak to the girl. Take the boy to the dungeons. She'll meet him there after our meeting."
The geese honked in reply, and Eos watched as they pulled Lonely away. "I swear if you hurt him, there will be another war." Eos threatened.
"Do you care about him?" Eros asked with a scowl.
"He saved my life. I can't repay that debt if he's dead."
"Hmm." He mused. He grabbed her shoulder and guided her to the palace. She had a meeting to attend.
