Eos watched Lonely fall as she was carried farther and farther away. She wanted to believe that he would find her, but she knew that by the time he would, she'd be gone. She racked her brain, trying to think of a way to help. Eos took off a shoe and threw it towards the ground, then her hair-tie, and her other shoe. She dropped whatever she could find in her pockets; she dropped her earrings, and as she was about to throw her socks, the net fell. It fell down a dark hole. Eos couldn't bring herself to let out a scream; she just shut her eyes and waited for it to be over.
It never came.
She watched silently as the Starlin fell into the ball pit. The daughter rose from her throne, her bells on her hat jingling merrily, though nothing was merry anymore. She realized that a long time ago. How could anything be merry at a time like this? The anniversary of her mother's death. Of course, there'd be a visitor today.
"You have to keep the smile up for the guests!" The daughter chided herself as she forced a smile; this was a trick her mother had taught her. She had long forgotten her own name; no one had called her that since she was a young... a young girl? Had she ever truly felt like someone young? She didn't know. She didn't even remember how old she was now. Anger rose inside her. Maybe it was her birthday.
"HAPPY BIRTHDAY!" She sang loudly, scooping up the net that held her guest. The daughter's mind was broken; she knew this. She forgot when it happened; maybe it was the deal that caused it, maybe it was the pain she felt from her mother. The daughter pulled the struggling Starlin out of the net and smiled at the girl, who looked so small in her hand. The daughter hopped over to the large brick jail set. It looked regular-sized to her, but to Eos it was the size of a big house. The daughter set Eos into one of the cells.
"Look, I can't have fun with you today. I'm going through some stuff. You'll have to play with the Lunarius," She smiled painfully as she set the roof of the building back.
The daughter jingled miserably back to her throne; it squeaked as she sat down.
"Not even my inflatable throne can make me feel better today," she muttered.
Eos stood in the overly large building block cell. It was cold, wherever she was, and damp. There was a large lava lamp in the corner of a room, and it bubbled slowly. She sighed and rubbed the bridge of her nose with her fingers.
"Why aren't you wearing shoes?" A voice asked. Eos wheeled around and saw someone standing in the shadows. They stepped forward slowly, "I didn't mean to startle you, sorry.".
The glow from the lava lamp illuminated the figure. She was an inch or so taller than Lonely. Her hair was pulled into two space buns, literally. A galaxy pattern swirled in her hair, and Eos swore she saw a shooting star. The girl's skin was as dark as onyx and had little white dots scattered in the inky darkness.
"My name is Pandora. I'm from Lunar Major, in quadrant 42," the girl, Pandora, held out her hand.
"I'm Princess Eos of Starlin. It's in quadrant 88." Eos smiled hesitantly, but shook the girl's hand. It felt like ice. "How long have you been here?" she asked.
"Since yesterday. The jester was working on patching up her Throne after I popped it, so she set me in here. I don't know why nothing has happened yet. I thought I'd be dead by now." Pandora muttered, sitting down with her back against the lava lamp. The blues and purples in her hair now glow from the light.
"You sound disappointed." Eos laughed.
"Why aren't you wearing shoes?" Pandora asked again. Eos sighed, sat down next to her, and told her the whole story.
